New Members 2018

December 2, 2018 - 11:39am -- Pat Vincent

Verdugo Hills Chorus couldn’t be more excited about the fourteen new members who have walked through our door since last January. They range in age from 16-65 and every one of them is musically talented. Their energy is contagious. They are the perfect way for our chorus to bring in a new year.

Harmony Harvest Show - October 28, 2018

October 28, 2018 - 3:00pm -- Pat Vincent

Under the direction of Tammy Ragsdale, Verdugo Hills Chorus enjoyed performing in Glendale at our own Harvest Harmony Show. The theme was Harmony Chef of America. The audience got a good taste of what ingredients it takes to make Barbershop Harmony win the Culinary Cuisine of Music!   Guest performers included our very own quartets Hot Topic, Precious Gems, Kopacetik, BBnJ, Eclectic Mix and Clueless, as well as soloist Liath Gleeson and percussionist Luke Notary.

Summer Sizzler 2018

August 6, 2018 - 12:00am -- Pat Vincent

An exciting weekend at Summer Sizzler in Bakersfield with our guest faculty, the fabulous Ryan Heller!  We’re so proud of our Novice quartets that represented VHC in the Novice Quartet contest (seven of them!)

New Members

August 2, 2018 - 8:37am -- Pat Vincent

We are more than thrilled to announce that  the Verdugo Hills Chorus has been blessed with 11 new members this year!  They are revved up and ready to go!  Almost all of them will be participating in the Region 11 Summer Sizzler; some as part of the Quartet Academy and others as part of our novice quartet contest.  Our weekend will showcase the brilliant teachings of Ryan Heller, a musician of renowned artistry. Excitement fills the air!   At this week's rehearsal we celebrated these new members with cake!   We also were visited this week by our coach extradoinaire, Lea Beverley!

2018 A Cappella Scholarship Festival

April 28, 2018 - 4:00pm -- Pat Vincent

Verdugo Hills Chorus was grateful for the opportunity to host an annual A Cappella Scholarship Festival. We invited middle schools and high schools from all over the LA County area to compete with two acappella songs. This year, 14 schools shared their vocal talents with each other. Thanks to a generous grant from the John C. Hench Foundation, all schools left with significant cash awards for their schools’ vocal programs.

Additional candid photos of this event can be found on our Gallery page.

Sweet Adelines Region 11 Contest 2018

March 24, 2018 - 1:00pm -- Pat Vincent

"All that work for 6 minutes onstage?"  Sure, some might say that, but the truth is that Verdugo Hills Chorus loves the journey.  On Saturday, March 24, 2018, members of our chorus competed in the Sequoia Pacifica Region 11 annual Sweet Adelines Regional Chorus Contest in Bakersfield, CA, and brought home two medals. Also, three of our chapter quartets (Hot Topic, Kopacetik, and Clueless) represented us the day before in the Regional Quartet Contest.  We couldn't have been prouder of them, especially since our Director, Tammy Ragsdale's quartet (Clueless) won a medal!   For some, the high point of the weekend is listening to the quartets singing around Saturday night, for others, it's the thrill of the contest.

Retreat 2018

February 18, 2018 - 1:00pm -- Pat Vincent

On February 16-18, our members gathered at the Ventura Beach Marriott Hotel to hone our skills in preparation for our next annual regional chorus contest, which will be held March 22-25 held in Bakersfield, CA.  As we got away from it all, this three-day retreat included education from one of our favorite coaches - Lea Beverley, a talented and hilarious gal who kept us learning and laughing the whole time!

2018 Singing Valentines

February 14, 2018 - 5:00pm -- Pat Vincent

Who doesn't love LOVE?

To help spread love this year, Verdugo Hills Chorus formed quartets who fanned out over the Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange County areas to deliver "Singing Valentines".  This year there were five hard working quartets:  Valentine Sextet, Valentones, BBnJ, Hot Music and Precious Gems.  It's one of our favorite fundraisers and gives ladies who may not currently be in a quartet a chance to serenade people from all walks of life.  Many of the recipients told us that this Valentine gift just "made their day!"
