On Saturday, January 27, 2018, the chorus entertained the ladies of the Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.) at a luncheon held at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. These ladies were a fantastic group to sing for and very appreciative.
What a great combination! The gracious group from Chatsworth West United Methodist Church gave us a wonderful lunch, after which we poured out our hearts in song! To make the occasion even sweeter, the Pastor asked if his congregation had any questions for us. This gave us an opportunity to regale these dear people with the story of Sweet Adelines. Most of us are still smiling!
WE love to sing, we love to laugh and we love parties! Our holiday dinner was at a Mexican restaurant this year and the food was fantastic! But the centerpiece of the feast was our entertainment. That's the beauty of being in a musical hobby - we always have instant entertainment. We had four of our quartets perform and listened to our in house poets. And, after dessert, we had our ugly sweater contest!
This year Verdugo Hills Chorus continued our tradition of delivering singing holiday cards via telephone to much appreciated recipients.
Do we like to perform! On September 22, 2017, we sang for the Co-wed Club in Glendale and had them laughing and singing along! A gal ran up to us afterward and wanted to hire us to sing for her uncle's birthday party. "You sing all the best music!," she said. "And you're portable...no instruments needed."
The next day, we were the special guest chorus on the Antelope Valley Show where our harmony was shared with a very enthusiastic audience. The only thing more fun than singing is seeing the smiles on all of their faces!
