Verdugo Hills Chorus, founded in 1954, is a membership organization of women and other marginalized genders who love to sing! We meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize and have fun. We currently have about 50 members of all ages, from all walks of life. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Performance
Verdugo Hills Chorus considers it an honor to be invited to sing at community events, both civic and business, for clubs and groups of all kinds, for family celebrations. We also put on shows, big and small, where tickets are sold to the public. We also deliver Singing Valentines and Singing Holiday Cards. Education
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of singing a cappella four-part harmony in the barbershop style. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Several times a year we work with top rate coaches in our craft.
Competition
In the spring of every year, Verdugo Hills Chorus participates in the Sweet Adelines Region 11 Quartet and Chorus Competition in Southern California. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other and receive constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the Regional Competition in both quartet and chorus categories travel to International Competition which is held in the fall in a city selected each year by Sweet Adelines International. Affiliation
Verdugo Hills Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a non-profit organization of approximately 23,000 members in choruses and quartets worldwide. The Headquarters is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are a community chorus and are not affiliated with any church or religious organization except to the extent that we rent rehearsal space from First United Methodist Church of Glendale.
