VHC Prepares to Host Regional Convention & Competition
March 10, 2025
Having won 2024's Region 11 chorus competition, Verdugo Hills Chorus will play host to the 2025 regional competition the first weekend in April. We don't compete at regionals this year, but we will sing for evaluation and we still want to make a good showing as we begin to prepare for competing at the Sweet Adelines International Chorus Competition in October of 2025. To that end—and with the support of a very generous donor—our leadership team has brought in multiple coaches to work with us during the first few months of 2025.

Our Valentines Quartets Delivered the Love!
February 16, 2025
Although a few of our folks were thwarted by flu, Verdugo Hills Chorus's intrepid and ever-flexible quartets were out and about on February 14th and 15th, bringing a smile to many lucky sweethearts, neighbors, co-workers, and friends! Selling Singing Valentines is a fundraiser for us every year, but it also never fails to touch our hearts with joy and laughter—and sometimes a few tears. Besides all that it's just great fun!

VHC Pays Tribute to Dale Syverson
January 4, 2025
Today we salute Dale Syverson, our wonderful coach, teacher, mentor, and friend. We joined with her beloved championship chorus, the Rich-Tones, and Sweet Adelines from across the world at her memorial service. Together, we laughed and cried and sang and celebrated the life of Dale. She was so highly skilled, generous, encouraging, inspiring, colorful, fun, and funny. We will always be grateful for all that Dale taught us and shared with us!
"Because we knew her, we have been changed for good!"

Our In-Town Weekend Retreat!
October 19, 2024
Our coach had a last-minute family emergency and so had to cancel, but Verdugo Hills Chorus rallied and carried on--and had an amazingly delightful weekend! Patti used the sounds of the season--"The Monster Mash" and "Zombie Jamboree"--to get our bodies moving; Davina ran us through our deep breathing exercises; Bobbette and Janice put us through our paces with new vocal skill-building exercises; and Master Director, Tammy Ragsdale, had us singing together better than ever! We celebrated birthdays--and each other--and learned and grew together as a chorus. There was so much positive energy in the room! What a wonderfully exhausting and delightful few days! Many thanks to ALL y'all!!
Coaching with the Incomparable Alan Gordon!
September 13, 2024
Last night, Verdugo Hills Chorus was honored to welcome Alan Gordon, lauded director of the championship chorus, Masters of Harmony. As we prepare for our journey to the Sweet Adelines International Chorus Competition in October 2025, we are so grateful to have the opportunity to work with some truly great coaches, like Alan. We always learn many new things from Alan and somehow he always finds ways to make us sound better than we did before. And that's the goal, right? To keep learning and keep improving. To keep becoming the very best singers and the very best chorus we can be! And the harmonies last night were absolutely spine tingling! It's SO much fun to sing into those kinds of sounds.
We are grateful to our management team and to the generous donors who make these sorts of coaching sessions possible. And we are very grateful to Alan and our other wonderful coaches for sharing some of their many talents with us!
